safer internet day

Today is ‘Safer Internet Day’. This is an annual event which aims to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world. The theme for the day is ‘Online rights and responsibilities’, when we will encourage users to ‘Connect with respect’.

You can find more information by clicking on this link.

To help your children stay safe online the UK Safer Internet Centre has published some easy to follow videos which show you how to set parental controls for the major UK internet providers. You can see them by visiting the UK Safer Internet Centre website.

I hope you have had a great break and are looking forward to a new exciting topic.

This half term our topic is ‘Who is the King of the Castle?’
What a fantastic topic to start the new year!

We will be looking at who lived in a castle, the roles of people in a castle as well as the costumes worn in Medieval times.

You will have a chance to compare modern buildings to castles. We will also be making costumes to wear to a Medieval banquet that will host for our class.

Our Science focus is Materials and their uses. Perhaps you can think of materials that we use in buildings today?

There are lots of different websites to help you learn more about our topic.

If you find a good website let us all know!

If you would like to know more about our new SUMO intitiative currently running throughout the school please come along to the workshop that I will be holding for Parents on Friday 1st February at 9.15am in the KS2 Hall. I look forward to seeing you.
